# This is Trappist 1

*Trappist 1* is an open-world, [free-to-play](/docs/player-guide/truly-free-to-play.md) and [free-to-earn](/docs/player-guide/truly-free-to-earn.md) universe under development by Pluck Games. It is set in the real-life solar system [TRAPPIST-1](/docs/the-real-trappist-1.md), discovered by NASA in 2017.

Core to the *T1* experience is its visually spectacular solar system with multiple planets and moons to explore, and thousands of minable asteroids. The solar system has an explorable volume of roughly 1 billion km<sup>3</sup>.

Players shape the [economy](/docs/for-backers/economics-tungsten-coin.md), infrastructure, and [governance](/docs/for-backers/governance-sway-coin.md) of each new world. Unlike traditional MMOs, the game does not rely on combat mechanics but instead focuses on exploration, crafting, resource management and player-driven decision-making.

The economy is built around [Tungsten Coin](/docs/for-backers/economics-tungsten-coin.md) ($TR1T) as the core currency, ensuring a sustainable, player-driven economy where every trade, craft, and resource decision matters. Governance is facilitated through the [Sway Coin](/docs/for-backers/governance-sway-coin.md) ($TR1S), allowing engaged players to influence world-building and policy decisions.
